the case of the disappearing $300,000 memoir

So, P. Diddy just can't seem to put his life story to paper. A shame, really. Perhaps if he sampled other people's memoirs and layered a crappy dance beat underneath...

My favorite observation from the BBC piece on Mr. Comb's unwritten-ness:

Other famous faces who have agreed to write memoirs and failed to deliver include Mick Jagger, who received a seven-figure sum for the project.

But the Rolling Stone eventually returned the sum, saying that he was unable to remember anything of significance.

Maybe these folks just need to pay this guy a visit.

I read this in the news the other day as well and found the image of Mr. Diddy (as the Times is wont to call him) struggling with his writers block amusing. And the Mick Jagger quote at the end was great-- though it sounds perhaps more appropriate for Keith Richards, who I'm sure hasn't remembered anything relevant or irrelevant since 1967.

I totally thought that, too... You sort of figure that, were anyone to ask Richards about his missing memoir, he'd just grin through the wrinkles, cough up a lung, and throw a fifth of Jack Daniels at the unfortunate soul who asked.

Then again, there's this: http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/isbnInquiry.asp?userid=dK8c1jxAI7&isbn=0811840603&itm=3
