"Thirty-five to forty countries have greater capability to build a nuclear bomb than Iraq did in 2003. Is President Bush saying we should invade them?"
that fairly provocative, though problematic (clearly, not all of those states would like to obliterate washington and new york), question comes from from john kerry's talk at nyu yesterday.
i recommend william saletan's slate primer on kerry's iraq argument. it's only one story of several, but saletan seems to convey the coherence overlooked by the hit-and-run of cnn, fox, msnbc, and the rest of the lot.
while i align myself with those who wish the democratic candidate could articulate a sound-bite friendly version of his approach, i pledge greater allegiance to those who would rather live in a country in which the majority of voters placed little faith in the treacly and hackneyed one-liners in which w revels.
you know what? "one-liners" is not a fair description. "one-worders" seems more apt. "freedom." "terra." "enemy." "9/11." "weapons-of-mass-destruction-program-related-activities."
ha! gotcha with that last one, didn't i? suckas.
